Labuan, 29 September 2025: The Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA) today welcomed Yang Berhormat Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, Minister of Finance II Malaysia, on an official visit. The visit was part of the Minister’s series of engagements with Ministry of Finance agencies in Labuan, which included Labuan FSA.

During the visit, YB Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan received a comprehensive briefing on Labuan IBFC’s progress and achievements over the 35th years, its strategic initiatives, and potential business opportunities, as well as its role in complementing Malaysia’s financial ecosystem. The Minister also engaged in substantive discussions with senior officials of Labuan FSA on key areas of development, including advancing the insurance sector, particularly by elevating captive insurance to the next level, further exploring innovations in Islamic finance through sukuk tokenisation, and the development of Labuan International School.

Labuan FSA Director General, Mr. Affendi Rashdi expressed appreciation for the Minister’s visit, noting that it reflects the government’s strong commitment to the development of Labuan IBFC as a dynamic and preferred jurisdiction for doing business. He said, “We are honoured by the Minister’s presence and look forward to continued collaboration with the Ministry of Finance to advance Labuan IBFC’s strategic objectives”.

The Minster of Finance II’s visit reaffirms the continuous support of the Government’s commitment to strengthening collaboration and enhancing the role of Labuan IBFC as a competitive and well-regulated international business and financial centre.
