Kota Kinabalu, 19 November 2016 – Sabah-based businesses could use the unique solutions and services offered by Labuan International Business and Financial Centre (Labuan IBFC) for their regional expansion aims.
To encourage these companies, the midshore centre and Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s (MICCI) Sabah branch is co-organising a masterclass at Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu on November, 22.
“Labuan IBFC is an ideal conduit point for businesses into ASEAN, and in light of the economic integration through ASEAN Economic Community, it serves as an attractive solution for Malaysian or international business owners planning to internationalise or expand into the region.
“We believe that Labuan IBFC stands out as the ideal midshore jurisdiction with our balanced supervisory and regulatory framework,” said Danial Mah Abdullah, CEO of Labuan IBFC Incorporated Sdn Bhd, during the launch of the roadshow in Kuala Lumpur.
The Labuan IBFC-MICCI Malaysian Roadshow in Kota Kinabalu will consist of a half-day masterclass with a focus on introducing the midshore centre and its offerings, ending with a panel discussion featuring panellists such as industry experts Datuk Chin Chee Kee, a Member of the Board of Labuan IBFC and Chairman of Association of Labuan Trust Companies; Shanker Iyer, the Founder of Chairman of Iyer Practice; and Christabel Chieng from Crowe Howarth (Labuan) LLP.
Iyer will also be sharing his insights on the way businesses can expand in the most cost-effective and lucrative manner via Labuan IBFC. He will also be talking to participants on the intricacies of cross-border corporate structuring and tax planning.
The Chairman for the MICCI Sabah branch, Datuk Tan Cheng Kiat, will also be expected to give his welcome speech during the event.
The Labuan IBFC-MICCI Malaysian Roadshow kick-started in Kuala Lumpur and has since visited Penang and Johor Bahru. The masterclass in Kota Kinabalu will be the final leg of the 2016 roadshow.
